Taking care of
the land is ours
It is very important for the environment that materials are eco-friendly and natural.
Over a lifetime, a woman will use an average of 15,000 feminine hygiene products. This is why it is so important for the environment that materials are eco-friendly and natural.
Mapelsa’s commitment is that our activity is not limited to the successful introduction of a product in the market, but that it translates into a positive impact for society and the environment.
• WE UNDERTAKE SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLITICS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE COMPANY
We are aligned with our suppliers to comply with legislation and implement traceability and improvement plans. Our staff receives constant and continuously updated training.
• WE MONITOR OUR IMPACT ON THE ECOSYSTEM
With specific concerns such as water and energy consumption during production processes, as well as the ecological and efficient management of all our waste.
• THE CHOICE OF RAW MATERIALS
Grown organically in environments and land free of pesticides and fertilizers, it promotes the working and health conditions of farmers. In addition, we use non-genetically modified materials. Suppliers of transgenic seeds use genetic modification, among other things, so that the agriculture products derived from their seeds are not able to reproduce. In this way, farmers cannot obtain seed from their crops and have to buy it periodically from the supplier company.
By promoting the cultivation of non-GMO organic products we care for the health of workers and their working conditions by contributing to fair trade.
100% Organic cotton
We use 100% organic, ecological and natural cotton; free of insecticides, pesticides and chemical fertilizers. In addition to not contaminating the soil or groundwater, it is beneficial to health, since it is hypoallergenic and allows natural perspiration. All cotton products are GOTS certified, which means that we guarantee the ethical origin free of toxics and pesticides without GMOs and fair working conditions.
Ecological bamboo is one of the materials we use for our feminine hygiene products, because it is a natural, ecological and sustainable material. No chemicals or pesticides are used in its production, and it has a strong environmental component, helping to save the rainforests, and reducing carbon emissions.
We only use virgin cellulose from sustainable forests to ensure its purity and the conservation of its properties. Cellulose is an organic compound formed by β-glucose. It is the most abundant molecule on Earth and forms part of the structural tissues of plants. Its fibers make it an ideal material for forming part of the core of our most absorbent pads.
The cotton of Mapelsa products is certified with GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)
World reference certificate in the treatment of organic fibers including ecological and social criteria. It defines the requirements to ensure the condition of organic fabrics from the collection of raw materials, ecological and socially responsible manufacturing and finally their labelling to guarantee the quality and credibility of the process to the consumer. Only products with a minimum of 70% organic fibers can be certified as GOTS.
This certificate is granted by ICEA (Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification). Its work is to control companies that provide services or products based on sustainable development of rural areas and fair trade to preserve the dignity of employees and consumer rights.
Mapelsa products are certified with TFC (Totally Chlorine Free).
World reference certificate for chlorine-free products. The bleaching of products with chlorine, either gas or elemental chlorine, causes AOX (organic halogen compounds) emissions into the aquatic environment. Chlorine-free processes can reduce water consumption and avoid carcinogenic compounds such as dioxins, furans and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).
The cellulose of Mapelsa products is certified with PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification)
The vegetal sheet that Mapelsa uses for its organic products is certified with OK COMPOST or SEEDING.
Certificate that guarantees that the materials with which a product is elaborated can be composted in areas of industrial composting without harmful effects for its later use. Only fully compostable products can obtain this certificate. The biodegradation of the product must occur almost entirely within the first 6 months.
We contribute financially to a state-owned company for the management of our waste, POINT GREEN.
The GREEN POINT is a registered trademark of PRO Europe with the aim of ensuring the recovery and recycling of packaging waste in an efficient and ecological way. Producers who package with this symbol contribute financially to a national packaging recovery company.
Logistics packaging is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified.
The FSC certificate endorsed by Greenpeace and WWF promotes environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management in forests around the world. Products identified with the FSC symbol come from responsible forestry. All our cardboard packaging and other forest materials come from sustainable forests.
The vegan seal certifies the product as free of animal abuse. No animals or their derivatives have been used in the manufacture of our products.
